American Sign Language Class

Learning a new way to communicate and connect with others can be a rewarding and eye-opening experience. Join our 6-week beginner American Sign Language (ASL) class and start your journey into the rich and expressive world of sign language. This class is perfect for those with little to no experience and will focus on the fundamentals, including fingerspelling, basic vocabulary, everyday phrases, and proper signing etiquette.

The class will be taught by Pastor Jenny Gordon, who is a hard-of-hearing parent of deaf adults, along with some of her family who are deaf and hard-of-hearing. Pastor Jenny is not an interpreter but is an Intermediate Plus signer with almost 30 years of experience with conversational sign language in her home, the community, and in her ministry setting.

 

This opportunity is available to you free of charge. 

We will meet weekly on Thursdays, October 2- November 6 from 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

at Bethel UMC, 150 Alder St., Lower Burrell, PA.
