Thank you for your interest in Bethel Nursery School. Bethel Nursery School has had the honor of helping to start children of the local community on their life journey. Although numerous changes have happened in our classrooms over the last 33 years, our primary purpose remains the same: Bethel Nursery School fosters the curiosity, creativity, and social interaction of children, expanding their intellectual abilities in an age appropriate way. The curriculum at Bethel Nursery School is designed for children in the 3-5 year age range. The younger children (must be 3 years old as of August 31) are in a class with a maximum of 17 students, and the main focus of their curriculum is socialization. This is the first "away from home" experience for many students and just dealing with separation anxiety and learning appropriate behavior in a group (making friends, sharing, playing in a group, sitting quietly, etc.) are the first lessons. In no time at all the class begins to function as a group, and the children have fun while learning colors, shapes, counting, name recognition, etc. The older children (must be 4 years old as of August 31) are in a class with a maximum of 22 students and the main focus of their curriculum is kindergarten readiness. In addition to continuing to expand on the educational basics, we try to insure that each student will enter the kindergarten classroom able to take care of their personal responsibilities, to follow directions (single task and multi-level tasks) on paper and off, and act appropriately in a classroom environment. Students in all classes spend time on personal computers working at his or her own level of ability. Our main goal in this area is to see steady progression in each student.
